Hobbies
Alongside my academic and professional commitments, I try to make time for a few things that keep me grounded and creative! Coincidentally, The Big 4 As: Athletics, Art, Anime, and Antiquing (kinda).
Athletics
- Finding time to exercise within my schedule is definitely a must, and I'm not particularly picky about what form it takes! I've lifted for most of my life and still find it to be one of the most relaxing ways to spend my free time, but more recently, I've gotten into running as well. My brothers and I have participated in the local Lincoln half marathon for the past two years, and, if time allows, I'm hoping to take on my first full marathon in May 2027. I also love snowboarding and playing tennis; however I can't claim to be particularly good at either yet (both are definitely works in progress lol). Feel free to follow my Strava to see what I'm currently up to!
Art
- Growing up, I was convinced I was going to become a Disney animator. Unfortunately, the animation talent never quite materialized… HOWEVER, my love for art and making things definitely stuck around. I love painting watercolor birthday cards, molding clay magnets and lighter covers, making my own jewelry, and generally picking up whatever craft catches my attention. For my senior year, I even decided to stray from my usual tech- and Spanish-focused schedule and sign up for a ceramics class. Also, feel free to follow my art account to see whatever I'm currently creating!
Anime
- I don't remember when I started watching anime, but I vividly remember Your Lie In April being the first anime I watched and falling in love with. Within my spaces (at home or at work), that love is clearly reflected with my manga collections, posters, and clothing! I really watch or read anything with some of my favorites being Tokyo Ghoul, HxH, Cowboy Bepop, and Orange!
Antiquing
- I've grown increasingly passionate about sustainability, thrifting, and giving things a longer life, especially when it comes to clothing. Fun fact: More than half of my closet is thrifted and I only buy furniture secondhand! I love searching antique stores, thrift shops, and secondhand marketplaces for pieces that already have a history behind them. I also enjoy upcycling and reselling clothing rather than letting pieces I no longer wear go to waste, helping extend their life and hopefully keeping them in someone's closet for years longer. Beyond finding unique things, secondhand shopping has become one small way I can be more intentional about consumption and reduce my participation in fast-fashion culture.
